Simmons is a Senior Scholar in the Department of Sociology at York University, where he is also a Fellow at the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean and a Member of the Centre for Refugee Studies. Professor Simmons has published extensively on issues of Canadian immigration, race and ethnicity, international migration, and refugee policy.
