Ratna Ghosh is the James McGill Professor and William C. Macdonald Professor of Education at McGill University. She is the co-author of Education and the Politics of Difference: Canadian Perspectives, Second Edition (with Ali A. Abdi, CSPI, 2013). Her research interests lie in the areas of multicultural education, race relations, human rights and education, identity, the sociology of education in developing areas, and women and development. She is a member of the Order of Canada, an Officer of the Order of Quebec, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, a Full Member of the European Academy of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, and a Dame of Merit with the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta. She is also the recipient of the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, the Lifetime/Outstanding Achievement Award granted by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, and was honored with the Leadership in Internationalization of Education Award from the Canadian Bureau of International Education. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Human Rights Foundation and as President of the Comparative and International Education Society of the US and the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. In 2003, Ghosh was featured in the Canadian Edition of Time Magazine as one of “Canada’s Best in Education,” and in 2009 she was selected for the Power List published by India Abroad.
